Home Renovations Are Hard Work

On November 17, 2014 Hilary and James purchased a 1936 two story house in the Riverside Terrace neighborhood in Houston. The house seemed to be in good shape, especially considering that nobody had lived there for a number of years, so the project was undertaken with the idea that there would only be cosmetic changes made.

After pulling off the drywall and discovering termites, looking in the ceilings and finding outdated wiring, finding out that we needed to fix the foundation, and talking to architects to turn our 3/1 into a 3/2.5, we realized that our little project would probably take years to complete. We're doing as much of the work ourselves, while relying on more knowledgeable contractors for some of the tricky work. It is a much bigger project than we thought it would be, but we're hopeful that the end product will make it all worth it.
