Taking a Break
Anybody who has ever gone through a renovation will tell you how stressful the whole thing can be. Between the sticker shock at the quickly mounting costs, the disappointments at scheduling disasters, and the overwhelming nature that is choosing between three or four options for a hundred different things, we reached a low point in morale a few weeks back. Around this time in 2015 we were able to escape the stresses with a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park where our friend works as a park ranger. It almost looked like we would not be able to leave Houston this summer due to scheduling conflicts between my job and James', but a week miraculously arose where neither of us needed to be anywhere specific. A wedding invitation determined our destination, and we made the decision to spend the week before in a region of the United States I never thought to visit: The Midwest. We have spend the last few days at the sleepy Voyageurs National Park and the cooler weather and clean air has rejuvenated us. Our tasks will still be there when we get home, but this trip has added energy and excitement to the project once again.
